Resources

Tribal Resources
The office of Tribal Resources is made available mainly through an Indian General Assistance Program (IGAP) grant from the Environmental Protection Agency. The primary purpose of this office is to educate tribal members of environmental issues relating to Nome, the Bering Straits region, the State of Alaska, and Nationally. Another purpose of the office is to educate members to what they can do to help in contributing to making our community more environmentally safe. The grant will focus largely on ensuring good drinking water is maintained and physical safety is improved within the community.

Programs developed through the Welfare Assistance Program will focus on teaching young tribal members to become environmentally savvy and to inform them how they can make a difference in our community, to enable elders to pass on to the younger generation issues relevant to survival today utilizing generations of yester years knowledge, enable members to enjoy a healthier community free of dust and other measures including improving homes to be free of contaminants, and to show all community members they can be involved in improving on a healthier livelihood for Nome Eskimo Community.
