Amending our FY21 grant submission to the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development
(HUD)
The Nome Eskimo Community (NEC) submitted an Indian Community Development Block Grant
(ICDBG) Imminent Threat (IT) Program – American Rescue Plan Act (ARP Act) proposal to HUD in 2021
to acquire funding under “New Housing Construction Project” construct 1-2 new homes through the
process of 3-D concrete printing(3DCP). We were successful and were awarded $1,035,000 for this
project. Since awarded, it has been determined by leadership that we redirect funding to construct 1-2
homes using traditional construction methods. Therefore, an amendment to the original award will to
be submitted following this advertisement of changes to the SOW. Funding to construct the traditional
homes still aligns with HUD’s intent to prevent, prepare, and respond to COVID-19 and the timeline
has been reasonably set to complete the project.
