Apply for membership!
To become a member of the Nome Eskimo Community, applicants must be of lineal descent of a tribal member and not enrolled with another tribe. NEC will not accept applications from applicants wishing to relinquish enrollment from another tribe to enroll in NEC. NEC also does not allow dual enrollment. Need an enrollment application? Please visit our office at 200 W. 5th Avenue, or call us at 907-443-2246, or download the application here.

Relinquishing Tribal Membership
NEC tribal members may at any time request to have their name removed from the tribal roll – and will not be eligible to re-enroll. NEC’s Tribal Enrollment Ordinance states the following:
No Person who is or was an enrolled member of another Alaska Native community or village, or Indian Tribe is eligible for membership in the Nome Eskimo Community.
NEC tribal members who wish to relinquish their membership may fill out the following form: Tribal Relinquishment Form (PDF)
Following the next scheduled Tribal Council meeting, a verification of relinquishment will be mailed to the former member.
